Is Final Fantasy XI Any Good?

Hey its my birthday (Yay!) and i was thinking of getting a few months of final fantasy XI I want to make sure i'm not making a mistake paying for a game thats no good and that i can just as easily download flyff or perfect world or luna online, and if Final fantasy XI is no good what is a good online game to download?

i heard it was amazing but i can imagine to pay to play a game after the initial price.i would play runescape or diablo2 (or three when it comes out)
